We, the Faculty of International Relations, University of Shizuoka, have applied out own program to the Program for Promoting University Education and Student Support, Theme A: Program for Promoting University Education Reform, or "GP". Our program is named "Construction of Educational Model for the First Year Experience from Field Exposure". Selected as one of the GP programs, this is the first adaptation in our faculty and also the only one in Shizuoka prefecture this year. In addition, this is an outcome of action by the Center for Global Studies.

On Transforming Museums of the Indigenous People into That of Human Rights

For this symposium, we would welcome a curator from that museum, the director of the Ainu Memorial Museum, and a chair for Ainu Traditional House Restoration Project, and they will talk about the possibility of establishing museums on/by Ainu as museums of Human Rights.

We held a symposium named "Striving for Information Barrier-Free 〜challenges of Social Enterprise〜." It was open to the public and we have invited two speakers: Jim Fruchterman, the president of Benetech in the USA, and Hiroshi Kawamura, the president of DAISY Consortium. The speakers shared with us about different activities of Social Enterprises in the world. The sympsium was successful and it was quite interesting to learn and to discuss different social issues.

This symposium was inter-disciplinarily organized under the collaboration between Center for Global Studies (CEGLOS), University of Shizuoka and Global Collaboration Center (GLOCOL), Osaka University.
The symposium was quite significant as an opportunity to reconsider many issues, globalization, safety net, food security, poverty, famine, food culture, human security and international development.
